Warsaw & Krakow

A tale of two cities

It’s not very hard to get to these two main cities in Poland. There are several airlines that operate from a number of airports, and the flight is just a couple of hours. The two cities are very different. Warsaw is rather grim. There always seem to be building works. It rains a lot. Nothing really works. People will come up to you in the street and tell you, in no uncertain terms, why they hate you. Everyone is grumpy. People urinate in the backs of the trams. There’s an old twon, but just how old it is is not clear. There are many shops selling amber and ice creams. Service in restaurants is poor unless you are British and then they are very helpful, but wine is very expensive. The Chopin concerts in the park on a summer Sunday is great. Krakow is more of a tourist spot. You can fly direct or go on the train from Warsaw. We’d fly direct. There’s lots of old, genuinely old to see. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes and they serve decent food at good prices. Staff are pleasant and speak English and go out of their way to help you, There are lots of guided tours on those golf cart things, and it’s not far to some rather famous concentration camps just outside the city.
